This year, I was blessed to be able to attend the ordination ceremony for the new SSPX priests, held on June 29 at St. Pius X seminary in Ecône, Switzerland. It was a great joy to return to the alma mater of a great number of SSPX priests, including your servant, and to attend such an illustrious ceremony. On that day, the feast of the holy apostles SS. Peter & Paul, Bishop Bernard Tissier de Mallerais ordained five priests and twelve deacons. Canada was blessed in a special way with Pierre Morin, a young man from Lévis, Quebec, who was ordained to the holy priesthood. An important delegation of priests and faithful, mostly from Quebec, also attended this special event. For those who may not be aware, the last Canadian to be ordained priest for the SSPX was Fr. Alexandre Lambert, back in 2020, but for obvious reasons, almost nobody could attend that ceremony due to Covid-19 restrictions.
On June 30, the day after the ordinations, the now Father Pierre Morin had the joy of celebrating his first Mass and giving holy communion to his father, his mother, and a number of his many siblings. During the sermon, Fr. Daniel Couture, former district superior of Canada, explained that the priest must be “the salt of the earth”.
After the ceremony, Mr. Gaetan Morin, the father of Fr. Pierre Morin, had the chance to meet with several of his own former classmates. He attended the seminary at Ecône back in the eighties while he was discerning the holy priesthood.
Fr. Pierre Morin will soon begin his new assignment at the Immaculate Heart of Mary priory in Calgary, Alberta. We hope to see him visit Toronto in the near future.
O Lord, grant us holy priests!
St. Pius X, pray for us!
