Last month, Pope Francis made a change to the Catechism of the Catholic Church in which he decided that the Death Penalty was intrinsically evil. Is the Death penalty now evil? From July 11-21, forty-one major superiors and “ancients” members of the Society of St. Pius X met at the Motherhouse of the SSPX, the Seminary of Ecône, Switzerland, for the General Chapter of the SSPX. Then, on July 11, it was made public that Most Rev. Fr. Davide Pagliarani had been elected as new Superior General of the Society, and that he will be assisted by Bp. Alfonso de Galarreta and Fr. Christian Bouchacourt, respectively as 1st and 2nd Assistants. After the election of the new Superior General, the General Chapter carried on till July 21 to discuss the workings of the Society.

During the Easter season, as we contemplate the figure of Our Lord risen from the dead, let us focus on the title of Good Shepherd, one of His most famous titles. We are familiar with the expressions as “The Lord is my Shepherd” or “Jesus as The Good Shepherd”, by which Christians express their personal attachment to the person of Our Lord. But there is a need to sort out a few things, in order to recognize the true meaning of the title of Our Lord as the Good Shepherd in a Catholic fashion, that is to say in a traditional Catholic way.
