Our Humble Beginnings.

From its humble beginnings, the Church of the Transfiguration started as a smaller congregation that spent its early years gathering in private homes and halls. The traditional Latin Mass began in Toronto in 1976 with Fr. Yves Normandin, who pioneered it from coast-to-coast.

The missionary and presence of the traditional Latin Mass continued to grow until 1991 when Fr. Jacques Emily formally purchased a church, which was then named "The Church of the Transfiguration". Soon after, a residence was purchased nearby to serve as a residence for the priests.



Over the last two decades, The Church of the Transfiguration has welcomed thousands of faithful. A large number of Toronto parishioners were instrumental to the further expansion of bringing the presence of the Traditional Latin Mass to new churches and schools in Orillia, St. Catharines and New Hamburg.

Our Prosperous Present.

Fast forward to today, and you’ll find a church that is bursting at the seams, struggling to keep up with demand. While the popularity and support of the community is a positive sign, the demand means the church needs a bigger space to continue to serve and grow. Before the pandemic put restrictions on in-person attendance, the church was consistently at full capacity while offering three masses every Sunday.



During the summer of 2020, in respect of community health and social distancing, the church expanded to five Sunday masses, including popular online YouTube live streaming.



Despite the Covid-19 restrictions, the volume of parishioners continues to grow, and demand has never been higher.

Building Our Future.

That’s why Toronto’s Church of the Transfiguration needs your help. In order to better serve its faithful and the community, the church needs a bigger home to welcome thousands of parishioners for years to come.

With the support of parishioners, friends, family and the community in the form of donations, Toronto’s Church of the Transfiguration will be able to move into a bigger home to better serve the community and its faithful well into the future.
